The love for books is the root of all happiness: Col. Ajay Kothiyal

Dehradun. The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Chief Ministerial face in the recent Uttarakhand Assembly polls and BJP spokesperson, Col. Ajay Kothiyal, visited Natraj Bookshop today and purchased a copy of the coffee table book  “My Life , My Words:

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi” by Divya Arora and Sangeeta Kochhar. Appreciating the efforts of the two ladies, both alumni of the prestigious Welham Girls’ School, in Dehradun, he said the elegantly designed book of quotations on Gandhiji’s thoughts and beliefs is every person’s perfect bedside companion. He lamented on the lack of reading culture in the present generation. “A book is a man’s best friend, a bridge over troubled waters. Reading,” he said, “is akin to traveling without baggage. Bookshops are silent torchbearers of the country’s success story. Parents and teachers must ask themselves, when is the last time they visited their favorite or their neighbourhood bookstore” and urged that everyone revisit them and show that they care about the intellectual pulse of the city.
